The BSA Lightning XL GRT SE is a hard-wearing, superbly accurate, value-for-money gas ram air rifle, is available in .177 & .22 Calibre and certainly packs a punch at just over 11 ft. Lbs.
Most traditional airguns use a spring-and-piston system to provide the air source, this rifle utilises a gas ram system which is cocked exactly the same way as a traditional spring, break barrel air rifle (so no gas required)!
Gas Ram offers several advantages over the standard powered spring air rifles:
- Better shot-to-shot consistency.
- No spring fatigue over time, when the rifle is loaded.
- Minimal recoil.
- Quieter than a standard spring rifle.
Italian stock maker Minelli machined the ambidextrous stock with the utmost precision and it has been hand-finished.
There is attractive chequering carved into the fore-stock and the handgrip certainly helps with the stability when shooting this rifle.
This barrel is manufactured at BSA Birmingham and covered by a metal shroud which provides sound suppression as well as a solid base for cocking and loading, there is a ½ inch UNF thread to allow the fitting of an additional moderator.
The barrel is only 37 cm long with the entire length of the rifle just shy of 100 cm, so certainly lends itself to being a sports carbine and would be perfect for vermin control or a bit of target shooting if you so desire.
Bristol Airguns Opinion: This rifle’s quality could easily match that of a more expensive airguns but with a price bracket that will not break the bank.
PLEASE NOTE: THE SCOPE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS PRICE – IT CAN BE ADDED AS AN ACCESSORY FROM OUR PRODUCT LIST.
